How We Wore It // Holiday Edition

Can I just say that I love fashion post collabs or link ups because it makes me think of my limited wardrobe in new ways. One of my favorites is the How We Wore It series ran by Brooke of Silver Linings Blog.

Holiday Edition outfit--long gray tunic and yellow scarf.
Tunic: Target // Tight: Target // Scarf: ?? // Shoes: Payless
Our inspiration this month has to do with winter weather…which is kind of funny because ….El Nino year + Utah weather. We’ve had cold, then warm, then warm rain, then cold rain, then slush and snow, then it all melts and we’re back to the 50’s. Well, our picture this month comes from Because Shanna Said So.

I used to own so many tunics before I got pregnant. They would go to my mid-thigh and I would wear leggings with them to work. But, many of them got shorter the wider in thighs, hips, and chest, I got during and after my pregnancy. So, this is my last tunic that I own. And, I just got these shoes for our family pictures!

Fall Scarf Exchange 2015

I am so glad that I’m not nursing or have a spit-uppy baby this year so I can pull out my large collection of scarves! That’s why I was excited to join the Fall Scarf Exchange 2015.

I was paired to give fall scarves to one of my best online blogging buddies: Desiree from Macke Monologues.

Then, I was paired to receive a fall scarf from Liz of Ellie And Addie. Liz had sent me numerous questions to try and determine what the best scarf for me would be, and she definitely delivered!

I love how big, orange, warm, and soft it is! And, I’m going to be using Pinterest to find different ways to wear it!

I’ll definitely be participating again next year!

Creative Closet // Sweater Weather

I love fall! I love the coziness of the season, the warm and comfortable clothing. One of my favorite fall and winter shirts is this brown sweater that I have owned since I can’t even remember when (either high school or college freshman year).

I have participated in Jana’s Creative Closet linkup numerous times and have loved it. It allows me to reimagine my clothes and think outside the box with what I already own. I have wanted to co-host for a long time and this week was perfect.

Jana always has the perfect outfits. I absolutely love her style and want all her clothes! Speaking of which, her Bouvardian clothing shop is now open and how I want all of the clothes! Maybe one day when I actually have spending money!!

Creative Closet // Weekend Wear

One thing that has definitely changed about my wardrobe is what “dressing up” is to me, now. When I taught, every weekday, I had to wear professional clothing. So, on the weekends, I would wear jeans and a t-shirt or blouse. But, now that I’m a SAHM, that “weekend wear” is me “dressing up” for the day.

How We Wore It // Keeping It Casual

Rhys and I are excited to join up with Brooke from Silver Lining again for the How We Wore It series.

This month’s inspiration comes from Robyn Vilate. She wears a camo shirt, jeans, converse shoes, and a baseball cap.

Casual to me means jeans and braids…definitely braids. But, since I got my hair cut, I haven’t been able to actually get it into braids. I can’t tell you how long it took today with as short as my hair is and how thick and curly. Yes, it was wet when I tried (which usually helps), but I guess they still aren’t truly long enough…so forgive the poor braids. Also, I used to wear hats all the time in college, but once I got hired as a teacher and hats are a big no-no, I got rid of them all. Thankfully, Justin had quite a few caps in the closet!

Can I tell you how hard it is to take your own pictures? Especially with focusing your DSLR on a blank spot waiting for a body to appear…with a one year old in a stroller nearby…

Rhys decided to join me in doing this round since he has a hat and camo pants! Focus the marks on his face…he tripped on the asphalt…he fussed until I picked him up and kissed him, then squirmed until I let him go to play some more…boys will be boys, I guess.

Rhys–> hat, shirt, pants, sandals–ALL from Wal-Mart! We love the very low prices on baby clothes!

Rhys decided he wanted to set up the camera and be my tech crew.
