Chasing the Wind

I find it interesting that the day after I write about the wind blowing through me in South California, I almost get blown away today.

I worked Concessions for the Rugby game today. Concessions is in a red Coke trailer under the bleachers. Our food is open to the public and open to the elements.

It was super windy today. My hat got blown off twice, we had a hurricane of napkins and ziploc bags. But, the funniest part happened near the end.

We had our paper work out because we were recording temperatures. But, our boss called us on the radio, asking if we could stay after the Rugby game to help with the baseball game. Before my coworker could answer for me (she held the radio), a strong gust of wind blow, blowing our folder with all our papers of numbers, staffing, money recording, inventory, etc out of the trailer and across the lot. I dashed out of the trailer, my coworker dumbstruck–she hadn’t seen the papers flying. I chased them as they weaved in and out of the bars on the fence, praying that they would stay on my side so I wouldn’t have to jump the fence. Finally, the stopped and I, as well as two passers-by grabbed all my papers. I walked back to the trailer with an armful of helter-skelter papers, my coworker still had a confused look on her face. When she finally connected the dots that I had chased after the wind-blown papers, she called me her hero.

It was quite the adventure.
