Coming January 2017

Remember when I mentioned that a few months ago, we received such terrible news and such wonderful news at the same time? Well, here is the good news…

I am pregnant! Rhys will officially be a big brother in January…well…maybe. The due date is the first week of January…so we’re really just considering it a New Year baby.

This was always our good news because we were intentionally working for this to be good news. However, the bad news kind of overshadowed it…but, on the bright side, the bad news has turned into some exciting good news, too. Again, because I respect my husband, I won’t divulge what the bad news turned good news was just yet.

Just like I did with my pregnancy with Rhys, I will be posting bumpdates on the blog, but only for every 2-3 weeks. Next week, I’ll talk about my first trimester. I just want this post to be in celebration of our family growing!

Because of timing, both in when we got pregnant and the surprise it gave us (even though we were trying), this pregnancy didn’t necessarily seem as real as Rhys’s. And that worried me that I didn’t immediately feel a maternal connection with this child. But, when we went to my 10 week appointment, my doctor used a hand held ultrasound machine (as he always does at 10 weeks) and we got a first glimpse. And there our child was…entire body throbbing with the heart beat, and little fin-like limbs wiggling all over the place. Seeing our child actively move, and see a more appearant belly, has made it a little more real. I’m getting more excited every day!

      1. I’m doing well! Less than a month until I’m in the third trimester (craaazy!) and right now my symptoms are very minimal. I hope it stays that way as long as possible haha 😉

  1. I feel like it’s been different this time around because I was so busy with school, work and Bensen that even though I was sick and exhausted, it didn’t really feel real for a while. Now it definitely feels real, but almost not at the same time…. I don’t know, it’s just been different! Congrats again though!

    1. Sometimes, it still doesn’t feel real, even though I’ve seen the little baby and heard the heartbeat, especially since I haven’t really popped just yet…I think once the baby starts kicking, it’ll be a little more real.

  2. Yay! You know this already, but I’m so excited for you 🙂 I love Rhys’s (or is it Rhys’? haha) shirt! I can’t wait to hear all about this pregnancy!

  3. Congrats on the pregnancy! I just clicked over from checking out the boy mom swap. I just had a baby in April and his middle name is Rhys! I was so excited to see another little boy with that name!

  4. That is just so exciting! We haven’t made an official online announcement, but I’m due the first week of January too! How cool would it be to have a New Years Day baby?! They’ll always have the day off. (Unless they work retail.) I have been feeling that lack of maternal connection as well with this pregnancy. I think a lot of it just has to do that I’m so busy that I don’t have the time to really think about it like I did last time. Anyway, so, so exciting and I’m glad your bad news is turning into good news!

    1. CONGRATS! I told Justin and he’s super excited for you! We really wish we had been able to see you sometime in Utah….but we’re moving in a few weeks and Justin is out of state doing training.

  5. So exciting for you! It is hard to really feel pregnant until that first appointment or even until that bump starts to appear. Congratulations!

    1. I am too…don’t worry! You should see my email list and my Bloglovin feed (I mean, for crying out loud, it took me 10 days to reply to this!)
