Dear Evelyn Morgan,
I can’t believe how big you are getting. Your face (especially your cheeks) are filling in, and your thighs are fattening up. Sadly, your hair is beginning to thin, and I am afraid of what will happen to your red when and if it all thins and falls out!
But, your personality has definitely begun to emerge. And, Rhys is finally beginning to give you more attention. You’ve also gone to Six Flags for the first time and went on a few slow family rides. Your eyes were just so huge and non-blinking the entire time!
Weight: 13 pounds (11th percentile)
Height: 25 inches (41st percentile)
Eat | You drink 5 oz bottle five times a day, about 2-4 hours apart…one when you first wake up, one mid-morning, one for lunch, one in the late afternoon after your long nap, and one for bedtime (which is typically actually 6 ounces). Then, you have a bottle in the middle of the night. You are officially in the realm of solid foods. You’ve had green beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, oatmeal, yogurt, strawberries, watermelon, bananas, and applesauce.
Sleep | Daytime: You still have three naps during the day. Your morning nap is getting a bit longer now–to about an hour. Your afternoon nap is closer to 2.5 hours rather than 3.5 hours. And you’ll have a short nap during dinner time.
Nighttime: You go to bed promptly at 7 since you are very hungry and very tired by then. You were amazing the first half of the month…sleeping from 8-4, feed, then 4-7. But now you wake up a few times at night and we have to use the Ferber method of sleep training to get you to fall back asleep…which sometimes takes a very long time.
Milestones | Movement: You are officially on the move: rolling over both ways and scooting across the floor. I think crawling is in your near future–you push your knees under you with your but in the air, trying to propel your knees further. Turning around is very easy for you to do. Sometimes you will get frustrated when you can’t get to where you want to go.
Communication: Talking is one of your favorite things to do. You love cooing, sighing, laughing, and screaming. You’ll turn your head when someone is talking to you and you recognize your name. Sometimes, you’ll even talk to yourself. Rhys is one of your favorite people and you always try to talk to him, touch him, and play with him. For the most part, he’s not appreciative of it just yet. But he’s starting to come around.
Playing: You love playing with your family and are easily entertained. You love playing and exploring with your toys, or really anything that you say. Curiosity is your motive. Sometimes, you’ll grab Rhys’s toys, and he doesn’t really enjoy that.
Sitting and Standing: Your back muscles are very strong. If you are holding onto our hands, or if something is holding onto your thighs, you can balance yourself in a sitting position. Otherwise, you just fall right back down. When we hold you upright you can put your full weight on your feet and sometimes take a step.
Personality: You are a happy, content girl. Most times, you are quiet and very observant. But, you also have my temperament of getting frustrated very easily. You love cuddling and are sometimes intentional about it–you’ll lay your head right on my shoulder or chest. I absolutely love it!
- food and bottle
- watching people
- splashing in the sink
- Rhys–he is your absolute favorite person. You will always watch him, love talking to him, and constantly try to touch him (he doesn’t like that part).
- Mama and Daddy not feeding you fast enough
- not being able to do or go where you want
- being tired and hungry
Sometimes I just can’t stand how adorable you are–I just want to eat you up! You may frustrate me at night when you wake up and won’t go back to sleep and in teh afternoon when you won’t nap at the same time as Rhys, but I still love you so very much.
