Look at Me! I Was on Wipeout…well, not really.

My family is a huge fan of Wipeout, the obstacle course television series. Justin also loves it. So, when I saw this ad for a 5K, I knew I had to sign us up!
The Hit and Run 5K

This was a very fun 5K.
We got up on Saturday and dressed warmly. It was pretty cold in the morning, but we wanted to keep our warm clothes as dry clothes when we were done. We shivered as we waited to run.
My parents came and recorded our run!
These videos are out of order, but they show the fun that we had and our hilarious moments!
This was a balancing run. Just like they have on Ninja Warrior. But, Justin and I both fell after the second step.
Justin got stuck after the climb. Since everything was blown up, I had nothing solid to push against to help Justin up and untie himself. Luckily, another runner rescued him. My mom thought it was hilarious.
This was the dodgeball wall–dodgeballs were thrown and the walls tried to bonk you to fall down.
This is just like the big red balls on Wipeout, only smaller and closer to the ground. Now I definitely know, I’d be one of the people to fall horrendously on the first ball that the hosts make fun of!
This was probably our favorite obstacle. We had to balance on the top beam while avoiding moving pillars and dodgeballs being thrown at us or we fell into a pool of foam (which was pretty fun to do).
This had moving big balls like on Wipeout. We had to balance on blown up columns and run to the end without being bonked by a ball. I think the hardest part was balancing.
We made it through in little under 50 minutes. It was Justin’s first race, and it was more about the fun then the speed, so we went at his pace and walked when he needed to. It was so fun to do it with my husband then try to beat my husband.
We were soaked through when we were finished. Thankfully, we were given free hot chocolate to warm up. Mom and Dad took us to get a warm breakfast at Einstein Bagels after we changed in dry clothing.
It was super fun, and a race to remember. If we are in Utah next year, we are definitely doing this again!

  • David jokingly has always wanted to try out Ninja Warrior and this would've been the perfect thing! It looks so fun! Wish we knew about it. Guess we'll have to do it next year!

  • Oh wow–Angel would have totally wanted to do this. I don't think I'd be brave enough to attempt it on my own but it looks like fun!

  • This looks like a blast! I hope there is one near me sometime!

  • That looks like SO much fun!! If we're both in Utah next time, please tell me about it again. 🙂 turns out it was the week my brother-in-law came home from his mission so we wouldn't have been able to come anyway. But seriously, next year that'd be awesome 🙂
