School Scares and Boiling Brownies

Sunday…oh Sunday.
Sunday was kind of funny…and in a bad way.

I set my alarm for 8am. I wanted to work on lesson plans before church began. I was stressed, so all night I dreamed of planning and prepping lesson plans.

Justin moves and gets up. That movement woke me up. I look at the clock:

7:30 AM

My thought was, “I am supposed to be at school right now! Class starts in 30 min! I can’t make it, I’ll be late!?!?”
What came out of my mouth was something entirely different……..

I jumped up and freaked.
Justin asked what was wrong, it was still a half an hour until I had to wake up. I finally realized it was Sunday and I broke down. You have no idea that stress!
Justin laughed. By the end of the day, I was laughing, too, but only after shaking in nervous-ness for the rest of the day.

That evening, we wanted brownies. I had made dinner, so I gave Justin the job of making the brownies. We were out of eggs, so we Googled a substitute for eggs. The internet told us applesauce: 1/3 cup for 1 egg. Our brownies called for 3 eggs, thus Justin put in 1 cup of applesauce.

Now, my mom had made brownies with applesauce before and they tasted delicious! But, after checking on the brownies, we found that only the very edges were fully cooked. The rest was…boiling. Like oily-greasy boiling…

We were confused. So we let it cook for a few more minutes.

No different. So we let it sit and hoped it would set as it cooled.

No luck. So we tried it anyway. I mean, brownie pudding could be good.

It was very interesting to say the least. We gave up after a few spoonfuls.

I don’t think I’ll let Justin bake brownies anymore. =)

  • Hahahahahahahahaha! I came and found this post like you told me to, and I'm glad that I did. Sometimes things just don't work out all that well. Even though it does for other people. And I didn't even know there was a substitute for egg! And I call myself a baker lady!
