Well, this has been a month. And not in a good way. There have been so many fails this month. Sigh. But, that’s ok. I’m allowed a crappy month every once in a while. Because at least I have these two adorable goofballs to raise my spirits every day. So, here is what we are currently up to.

Planning | Spring cleaning. I’m still in the midst of deep scrubbing and going through everything to see if we should keep, donate, sell, or trash. I’m also planning to start teaching English to kids in China online. I’m also planning our move to another apartment complex in mid-August.

Wishing | We could visit Utah more often (but it costs so much). That the kids were older so we could do more exciting things with them (like go on the big roller coasters at Six Flags as a family) or have Rhys babysit Evelyn while Justin and I went on a date…eventually. Someone would come and do spring cleaning for me. Evelyn would sleep through the night. Rhys would stop pooing in his underwear.

Learning | how smart my children are. Seriously, it amazes me to see how fast they learn and grow every day. Learning I can be biblically and spiritually uplifted at other churches and not just mine.

Browsing | Online stores–just window shopping. The library shelves…putting more and more books on my “to read eventually” list.

Going | Nowhere. Justin will be going to Seattle for a work conference in a few weeks. Maybe I’ll take the kids to a few splash pads and parks.

Justin is currently…

Getting a lot of projects done at work…it’s starting to be their busy season. He’s also using his work gym to start working out again. Honestly, it’s kind of humdrum for Justin this past month: wake up, go to work, possibly work out, come home, eat dinner, play with kids, watch TV with me, go to bed.

I am currently…

Suffering another bought of depression…but it’s also affecting me physically this time. Not only have I been lacking in interest and motivation in many things, but lacking in energy and strength. I’ve taken quite a few naps multiple days this month. I’m also getting worn with finances and potty-training Rhys, and just being home all day with two kids under three. I’m really wishing for a kid-free vacation.

Rhys is currently…

Almost fully potty-trained. If he doesn’t have underwear on, he can tell when he’s about to go, and will pee or poo on the potty all by himself. However, if he has underwear and pants on, then we have to remind him to pee and he’ll most likely poo in his pants. So, most of the time, when we are just at home, he only wears a shirt. We typically only put underwear on him when we go out. He is also speaking more…still struggling with pronunciation, but he’s definitely talking more nad more every day. Rhys is also starting to pay more and more attention to Evelyn. He cares deeply about her and is fiercely protective of her. For instance, if someone calls her anything other than her name (like little princess or precious one) Rhys will say, “No, that’s Gigi” (Gigi is how he pronounces “Evie.”). However, he also gets annoed with her a lot and doesn’t necessarily like it when she touches him or his stuff.

Evelyn is currently…

On the move! She’s officially rolling over both ways as well as scooting. And that means she’s starting to get into things she shouldn’t. She loves to reach for everything in her grasp. She also loves to eat her solids and will totally flip out if she sees you preparing it, but it isn’t already in her mouth. Evelyn absolutely adores Rhys and always wants to be touching him. She also loves everyone and smiles at total strangers. We are still working on getting her to sleep through the night. Her thighs are really chunky up! Holy cow! Evelyn will also talk your ear off if she’s in the right mood. We think that crawling isn’t too far away from happening.

Sariah Rose’s Newborn Photo Shoot

I was given the opportunity to do a newborn photo shoot for the third child of a single mom in our church. I had so much fun taking pictures and editing them!

Favorite Things Party

I also hosted a favorite things party. Only four people came, but it was still a really fun party. We all had good conversations and enjoyed learning more about each other with our favorite things. I also made a delicious Eggo Waffle Ice Cream Taco Bar.

Flooded Apartment

One Saturday this month, as I was about to put Evelyn down to bed, I heard some water dripping. For a second I thought it was just the pipes in the walls signalling that our upstairs neighbor was probably in the shower. But, it got more consistant and apparent. So, Justin and I stepped into the bathroom to see if we could figure out where the water noise was coming from. We opened the cupboard above our toilet to see water dripping through it. Then, water started dripping through the vent in the ceiling. Then, our light fixture in our room. Then, the light fixture in the mud room. And more and more kept coming through…including through the walls. There was a ton of water on our floor now.

Long story short: our upstairs nieghbor’s toilet had been overflowing for hours and he was out of the house. We had to stay the night at a hotel while maitenance fixed the leak, vaccuumed up the water, ripped up the carpet to dry it out, and assess damages. On Monday, they came to replace our bathroom ceiling, fix up the holes and cracks in our bedroom ceiling, and re-lay carpet in our bedroom.

Thankfully, nothing was damaged….we just had a lot of dirty towel laundry to do.

Kubota Tractor Corporation Headquarters Family Open House

Kubota transferred its headquarters from LA to Grapevine, Texas…only 10 minutes from where we live. So, rather than going down 50 minutes to the Texas branch (which Justin had to do when we first moved here), he has a 10-minute commute to a brand new building. And, since winter conferences are now over, they hosted an open house to the family and friends of the employees.

I’m sad I didn’t get a picture of the actual building, but you can view it here and here. It really is a beautiful building. It’s very open and bright and clean with a lot of natural light. During the open house, they had a balloon artists, blow up slides, a petting zoo, and numerous company tractors and machines for the kids to play on. Rhys had an absolute blast.

Weather is getting warmer, and with that, so is the humidity. Sigh. Seriously. If the temperatures here could stay in the 80s with no humidity, it would be perfect! This past month had a lot going on, and we have a lot planned for this month. So here is what is currently going on…

This month has been a happy one. I have felt content in life as a work-at-home-mom of two. I did a lot of reading this month, which makes me happy as well. And, we’ve been enjoying some great weather here in Texas…not to mention, in a week and a half we’ll be heading to Utah for Easter!!!! So, here is what is currently going on!

It’s been quite some time since I’ve done a currently post. Basically, I haven’t done a post or update like this since December!! Really, the past two months have been a whirlwind of emotions, transitions, trials, sleepless nights, smiles, tears, and much more. So, I thought I might do one. Besides, they are very fun to write.

Wow! A lot to go through today! It’s going to be a hodge podge! But, sometimes, you need to do those kinds of posts, and they are fun to write and to read.

Doing | Everything possible to get ready for Evelyn. I’m in full-on nesting mode. I’ve kept on top of thank you cards for the baby showers I’ve had, presents are all wrapped and under the tree, and Evie’s clothing is washed and equipment set up. I’m 1/3 of the way done doing deep scrubbing of the apartment. I do try to take it slow and steady. This pregnancy I’ve definitely gotten a lot more worse worn out a lot more easily.

Cooking | Well, this past week, I’ve sucked at cooking. But, I plan on having a few homemade freezer dinners prepped before baby girl.

Wrapping | All the Christmas presents! Well, except for Rhys’s big present from Santa, which is on our porch hidden until Christmas Eve. Rhys has loved “helping” me wrap the presents. He’ll help place the tape, pick the bows and place them, pick the name cards  and place them, then put the presents under the tree. Since my family is coming when Evelyn is born (less than a week after Christmas), we are just keeping their presents under the tree rather than shipping them to Utah.

Playing | Justin and I have been playing a lot of Rummikub at night–when we were dating/engaged, we played it almost every night. Now, we are back in the habit. Rhys and I have been playing a lot of cars and legos. He’s really getting into interactive and imaginative play with his toys and it’s so fun to watch him. We have also been playing with simple ideas for our new Elf on the Shelf: Jingle. Justin and I are easing into it this year, since it doesn’t take much to impress our 2.5 year old. First thing in the morning, Rhys will go look to see where Jingle has moved and then points back to all the previous places he was.

Justin is currently…| Loving his job at Kubota Tractor Company. He is a data analysis and has done some pretty big projects already that his bosses love and are implementing. He is really into BYU football and basket ball right now. Justin also made his annual batch of homemade mulled apple cider on Saturday.

I am currently…| Wishing this pregnancy was over. I hate this pregnancy. But, I’m so excited to have a baby girl in my arms in less than 4 weeks. Sometimes, I still can’t believe that I will have a daughter, let alone a second child! I have officially opened my Etsy shop: The Morrell Tale Design. I am also taking advantage of the fact that I have my own car now and have been taking Rhys all over the place and getting out of the house as much as possible before having a brand new baby to take care of.

Rhys is currently | Growing like a weed. I swear he’s grown a few inches since we’ve arrived in Texas! Rhys is so smart, I can barely believe it. He loves helping with EVERYTHING and loves being independent. He’s obsessed with educational videos on Youtube and knows the vast majority of letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. His vocabulary is also growing daily, but his actual verbalization and pronunciation is still suffering. Today, we actually have an evaluation with ECI to see if he qualifies for speech therapy.

Evelyn is currently | 36 weeks along! She loves to move, especially during naptime and bedtime. She is already very spoiled with all the gifts we’ve received from family and friends.

Maybelline Super Stay 24 Longwear Lip Color | I absolutely love this lip stain that I received from Influenster. I’ve never been one for bold colors, but I absolutely love the way I look in this. And, it’s true to it’s name–it really does stay on forever! I apply it in the morning, but then it doesn’t come off until I go to bed when I wipe it off with makeup wipes!

Blogger Ornament Exchange | I love doing ornament exchanges. This year, I was paired with Amanda from Perks of Ponder. She definitely got my aesthetic of wood and tweed down! I love this ornament!

Morning at Dallas LDS Temple | Last week, I went down to the LDS Dallas Temple. I needed to make an exchange at the distribution center (where Mormons get temple clothing and the sacred garments) and I wanted to take some pictures. It was a beautiful morning. The temple is definitely much, much smaller than the Utah temples. The parking lot wasn’t even 1/3 full–complete OPPOSITE of Utah temples! Wow! I’ve been in Utah so long I’ve forgotten what temples outside the Mormon bubble were like! I had to pee real bad when we got there–pregnant! So, I explained to Rhys that we were going to go into the Temple–Jesus’s house. Since it is Jesus’s house, and we love Jesus, we need to respect him and be reverent. That means whispering and walking. No yelling and no running. We walked into the lobby and Rhys walked slowly the whole time and made a point to whisper, and would even put his finger up to his lips. He pointed at the pictures of Jesus and said, “wow.” Even in the bathroom (in which he loves to yell because of public bathroom echoes), he whispered! I was so proud of him. When we walked back outside, I told him so and told him he could now run around. We got some beautiful pictures of the grounds, too.

Maternity Pictures | We also got maternity/family pictures done, and I am absolutely IN LOVE with them. Kayleigh was the first friend I made in Texas…the first week we were there, I took Rhys to the library and I saw a girl with two little boys in BYU Cougar shirts…I knew she had to be Mormon! And she was! We exchanged phone numbers and began to stalk each other on Facebook seeing as we were both Utah transplants to Texas. Then, I discovered Kayleigh’s photography business and fell in love. I begged her to do my maternity pictures. And, she’s going to give you a deal!
