March seemed to just blow on by. It is ridiculous how fast time is flying now that I have two children! Holy crap! It is officially Spring here in Texas…we’ve had 70-80* weather for almost a month now, with quite a few thunderstorms, a handful of tornado watches/warnings, and lots of shorts-wearing. I just hope April isn’t that much hotter than March!!
Birthday month, Valentine’s Day, lots of rain, lots of doctor visits, too much take out and Pepsi and peanut M&Ms. That’s what February looked like. Plus, a few of my friends gave birth this month, so it was really exciting to see brand new baby pictures again. Evelyn is 2 months, but she doesn’t look like a newborn anymore! I can’t believe it! And, I missed St. David’s Day! It was the first time in almost 7 years that I didn’t celebrate it. That just means I’ll have to make some leek and potato soup and the Cornish pasties later this month to make up for it.
January was quite a whirlwind with having a newborn. My mom was with me a few weeks in December and January to help with Evelyn. And, I had a really hard time adjusting once she left. I’m actually currently in Utah–I have spent about 10 days back in Utah with my mom. This postpartum and the bowel issues Evelyn has been having and the transition to two really took a toll on me. So, although I did well on some goals this month, I didn’t do well on others.
Last year was full of changes and transitions, the last one happening only last week with Evelyn being born! We knew 206 would be full of changes, and that is why I specifically chose my mission statement–I wanted to try to take the bad with the good, stay positive, and make the best of things. This year, things will be a little more stable: we have a long term contract with our apartment complex, Justin’s job is steady, and we are just fine with two kids this year. Discover my family.
With a toddler who is continually learning and growing, I want to focus on helping him get prepared for preschool in the fall. With a brand new baby, there will be daily discoveries as she learns and grows. I want to rediscover the passion I had with Justin that was kind of lost during all the transitions last year.
Discover my faith.
At the beginning of the year, as well as 2015, I had a great relationship with my Savior. I feel I’ve lost that closeness, deepness, and passion with my faith. I want to rediscover that, especially now that I am a now a youth adviser in my congregation.
Every time we’ve moved somewhere, we have told ourselves that we are going to take advantage of all that town had to offer. And every time, we’ve waited until the very last minute and never succeeded. We want to enjoy and discover all that the DFW area has to offer.
I’ve dabbled in past-times and hobbies on and off throughout my entire life. Since I am no longer teaching (which I desperately miss, but won’t go back until my kids are both in school), I want to find a solid passion. I want to find my place online: blogging, free lancing, graphic design Etsy shop, virtual assisting. Learning how to use manual mode on my camera and editing photos is also a goal for this year. I also want to get back to my healthy self–my goal weight and intensity in my workouts. Rediscovering myself and seeing how I can change to be a better, happier, more positive person is a priority.
So, this year, I will be using these four areas to center all my monthly goals.

- Create a new routine for our family that includes Evelyn
- Spend one-on-one time with Rhys electronic free every day
- Stay patient, positive, and loving
- Scripture reading every night with Justin
- Find a routine/work schedule that works with a newborn and 2.5 year old
- Stay caught up on blogging and freelancing
- Enjoy being present and electronic free
- Read 3 books
Discover a new Tayler
- Create and read through a new secret Pinterest board full of inspiration on what I want to be like this year
- Eat healthy–no Pepsi and no snacks after Rhys goes to bed
- Create mantras for myself
- Journal at least twice a week and be introspective
