It’s time for another Guy Behind The Blog!
1 // Do you have a good luck charm or ritual? (like a lucky coin, or you always used to listen to a certain pump-up song when you played sports in high school or college?)
I typically wear my BYU jersey or hat whenever I watch BYU football or basketball. I wear a fedora when I go play poker with the boys. I have a lucky number…it’s 9. Aside from that, I don’t really have any good luck charms.
2 // What is your favorite dish that your wife/fiance/girlfriend makes for you? Do you have any fun memories of a time when she tried to cook and it totally flopped or does she get it right every time?
There are so many. So I’ll only answer based off what I’m craving right now. And right now, I could really go for some of my wive’s cashew chicken.
Mac and Cheese. Funny thing, Pinterest. It gives you all these wonderful ideas for healthy alternatives, which my wife is insistent upon either trying or pinning onto her board, so people think she’s tried them. There was a homemade Mac and Cheese recipe that she tried from Pinterest and it was an absolute fail. Probably the only dish my wife has made me that I did not finish. (And neither did she)
When I was a kid, there was this fancy thing on the computers called clip-art, which I played with thoroughly. one of the pictures went by the title of engineer and it showed a happy guy with two wrenches in his hand standing near a train. I think back to all the times I “helped” my dad fix things (I mostly just held the light so he could see and handed him the screwdriver when he asked for the “thing”). Because of that picture, I grew up thinking my dad was an engineer with how much he would fix things and play with tools. I maintained the idea of an engineer until high school where I tossed the idea around between my two favorite classes: biology and drafting. I decided I was either going to be a mechanical engineer or a biochemical engineer. The entry level chemistry and physics courses in college changed my mind very quickly. And now I’m stuck with computers and numbers. So when I grow up, I’ll let you know what I ended up picking.
4 // Which of the five senses is your strongest?
I’ll probably say touch simply because I don’t have a sensitive palate for tastes (I just like eating food). My eyes can’t see very far away. I’m constantly asking my wife to repeat herself, so it’s not hearing. So it’s between smell and touch. And my fingers never get stuffed up…so the victor goes to touch.
5 // Would you ever run for president?
President, no. Local political office, potentially. Do I really think I’d be able to change anything, probably not. Unless the entire counsel was made up of my friends. And if that was the case, there would be a lot of expenses on the state budget for pizza.
