Discover April 2017 Goals

Discover is the word of the year! What goals will help you discover yourself and your what's around you this month?

March seemed to just blow on by. It is ridiculous how fast time is flying now that I have two children! Holy crap! It is officially Spring here in Texas…we’ve had 70-80* weather for almost a month now, with quite a few thunderstorms, a handful of tornado watches/warnings, and lots of shorts-wearing. I just hope April isn’t that much hotter than March!!

Discover is the word of the year! What goals will help you discover yourself and your what's around you this month of April?

How I Did In March

Discover Self-Discipline

No sugar this month. | I did really good the first half of the month, then there were blogging parties, church parties…and I just gave up. So much for self-discipline.

Workout four times a week. | I did really good the first half of the month–the first two weeks I worked out every day except for Sundays! But then, half-way through the third week, I injured my knee during a run. I can barely put weight on it…I’m going to get it checked out as soon as I can. But, since then, I’ve done a handful of core and arm workouts.

Create BUDGET!!!! | Well, I created a “spread sheet” of sorts for my earnings and spendings on blogging, free lancing, and graphic design. Last week, Justin and I also sat down and had a huge talk with our family goals for this year, 3 years, and 5 years, so a big chunk of that was spent talking about finances, too

No spending this month! | I did pretty well the first two weeks…I think I need to have Justin take my cards with him to work so I don’t have a choice!!!

Find a PCP to get a refill on my prescription and possibly therapy. | Found a PCP, got my prescription refilled, and got a few referrals to therapists, but trying to find one that isn’t super expensive and works with our insurance.

Discover Etsy and Blog

Finishing updating/editing blog pages, categories, series. | Just about done. I still want to update my book review page and my recipe page.

Sign up for an affiliate program. | Signed up for one! Still not sure really how it works! I want to sign up for more, though.

Update all social media platforms. | I have updated all except Pinterest.

Create 3-5 St. Patrick’s Day prints. | I didn’t do this. But, I did have a sale going…although no one bought anything…

Create 3-5 Easter Prints. | I have one done.

Create 3-5 File Folder games. | Nope.

Post more on Etsy Instagram. | I posted like twice…

Create email subscription. | My ideas for it are coming together, but I didn’t get it done.

Discover Evelyn and Rhys

Spend at least 30 minutes a day without electronics with my kids. | It wasn’t necessarily 30 minutes straight, but I did spend more time with my kids here and there without electronics.

Teach Rhys letters, numbers, colors, shapes at least 3 times a week. | We bought a dry-erase book with numbers, letters, shapes, and colors for Rhys. We started working on the letters…until Rhys broke/dried out all our white board markers. We also created a “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” tree for him, and he traces and names the letters we have on it so far every day.

Read to my kids at least 10 minutes a week. | Wow. A week?!? When I wrote this goal, I meant a DAY! But, I’ve done that at least 4-5 days a week. We’ve had two library trips this month, too.

Use the camera more on my family–try to take a picture every day. | I did use my camera or my phone more often this month…probably not every day, though.

These are great goals Tayler! 🙂 Your goals always inspire me!! I love your feature image too! 🙂 Also, I’ve been wanting to learn InDesign and Illustrator, so if you find a course for illustrator that you really like, let me know!

    • I did seeking alexi’s illustrator course and it was pretty good. it was in person when i did it, but i think she might offer an online course now.

      • I’ll have to check it out and the price.

    • Thanks so much, Ashley!

  • i like the way you have broken down your goals for the month. My word and my goals don’t always match up, but I am happy with the way the year is going.

    • Thanks. I find it easier to keep my yearly word in mind each month if I do it that way.

I think you did well on goals in March -and best of luck for the rest of April. Yay for spreading the love of reading. I plan to make my nieces and nephew as big of bookworms as I am. 🙂

    • Thanks! Reading is very important to me!
