Discover something new each month with your goals.

January was quite a whirlwind with having a newborn. My mom was with me a few weeks in December and January to help with Evelyn. And, I had a really hard time adjusting once she left. I’m actually currently in Utah–I have spent about 10 days back in Utah with my mom. This postpartum and the bowel issues Evelyn has been having and the transition to two really took a toll on me. So, although I did well on some goals this month, I didn’t do well on others.

How I Did in January

 Discover Being A Family of Four

Create a new routine for our family that includes Evelyn | We are still working on it. We don’t really have a good eat, wake, sleep schedule for Evelyn yet, but we have incorporated her into Rhys and my morning routine. Both kids have lunch and take an afternoon nap at the same time, and go to bed at the same time. So, I’d consider that a success!

Spend one-on-one time with Rhys electronic free every day | This has been a little harder than I expected this month as Evelyn has taken up most of my attention. But, I’ve tried to play with him and give him his own time. I’ll try even more this month.

Stay patient, positive, and loving | I’ve tried my hardest with this. My postpartum depression and anxiety hit an all-time high (hence being in Utah), and Evelyn didn’t fit the same mold Rhys did in addition to her bowel issues. So, my anxiety kind of took control and  made it hard to be loving with her or stay patient with Rhys. But, things are improving, so I’m glad about that

Scripture reading every night with Justin | Again, with trying to get in a good night time routine with Evelyn, and keeping Rhys in bed when it’s his bedtime, this has been a bit difficult. I’d say we probably read scriptures together 33% of the month.

Discover Balance

Find a routine/work schedule that works with a newborn and 2.5 year old | Again, I’m working on it. We’re almost there. Now I just have to include my freelancing and blogging into a structured routine.

Stay caught up on blogging and freelancing | For the most part, I did. What really helped was having a lot of guest posts throughout January to help me get back into life. 

Enjoy being present and electronic free | I did definitely enjoy my kids, especially Evelyn’s smiles and coos. But, I can do better with putting my electronics down.

Read 3 books | I read two books this month.

Discover A New Tayler

Create and read through a new secret Pinterest board full of inspiration on what I want to be like this year | I created the board, and have pinned a lot, but haven’t read through them.

Eat healthy–no Pepsi and no snacks after Rhys goes to bed | Nope. I have to stop snacking after Rhys goes to bed. I think this month, I’m gonna buy gum to chew after he goes to bed. And, I’m going to be a little smarter this month about my Pepsi goal.

Create mantras for myself | Nope. I’ll do this once I get through my secret board.

Journal at least twice a week and be introspective | I maybe journaled three times this month. I got the most important parts down: Evelyn’s birth story, Christmas, and the beginning of the month. I need to get caught up on it, though.

February Goals

Discover Budget

  • Create budget with Justin and stick to it
  • Create a spreadsheet for all blogging/freelancing expenses and earnings
  • Earn $250 in freelancing
  • Eat out at most once a week

Discover Health

  • Physical Health –> work out at least 4 times a week for at least 20 minutes
  • Physical Health –> lose at least 5 pounds
  • Physical Health –> candy only on weekends and CAFFEINE FREE Pepsi only IF I work out that day
  • Mental Health –> go through my secret Pinterest board, create goals for my inner self, create mantras
  • Mental Health –> ask my doctor about possible therapy for my PPD and anxiety

  • Update all pages, categories, series
  • Research and join an affiliate company
  • Create Freelance work page
  • Update and reorganize all social media pages
  • Stay caught up with blogging

    Sometimes I worry that if I don’t workout for at least an hour, then it’s not really considered working out. I’m pretty hard on myself so one of my goals is to be better about that!

    1. Thanks! I did it myself! There are still tons of things I need to update or change!

      I’m trying to ease myself back into working out after having had a baby!
