Dear Evelyn Morgan,
Oh boy. Poor Evelyn. Poor second child. Another monthly update that is a week two weeks late! I haven’t really been blogging at all last month, and of course this gets pushed to the back as well. Even the pictures aren’t the best. I actually used your Halloween costume for this month’s pictures. You were a snow leopard for Halloween. It’s been cold, windy, and cloudy a lot recently and I just never had the time for dress you up and take pictures outside. But, boy what a month this has been Evelyn! One major up and one major down. You are walking!!!! And, Grandma and Grandpa came for a quick visit. You loved all the attention they poured on you all weekend long. But, you’ve also had a major teething session and currently have a double ear infection and bronchitis! You are actually on a nebulizer right now.
When you took the first bit of steam from it at the pediatrician’s office, you did not like it at all. It was a big oxygen mask on your face and I had to pin your arms down. You fought the whole time. Rhys got very upset, to the point of crying for fear. He was scared of the “bad guy medicine” on his baby sister. He only calmed down once he saw that you were safe and out of the nebulizer. Your brother loves you so much. I hope you know that, even when he pushes you and takes away your toys. You are the apple of his eye.
Weight | 18 pounds 14 ounces, 49%
Height | unsure, but definitely taller than last month (28 inches)
Eat | You drink 4 bottles a day of 4-6 ounces, except at bed, you drink between 6-8 ounces. You drink a bottle when you first wake up, before or after both naps, and right before you go to bed. You have recently been very picky with eating. It’s been a trial to get you to eat. You’ll take a bite or two, than ferociously fight each bite…unless I coat each spoonful with applesauce. Typically you like to have food pouches. You love sweet food, like honey nut cherrios and fruit. You’ve had your first M&Ms and cookie this month. You also like to eat whatever is on our plate–but just a bite or two before you refuse again. I’ surprised to see you’ve still put on over a pound and a half this month!
Sleep | Daytime: You have two good naps during the day, each between 1-2 hours long. Your morning starts anywhere between 8:30-9:30 and your afternoon nap starts anywhere between 1:00-2:00 pm. But, this past week, with your illnesses, we are lucky if you sleep 20 minutes at a time.
Nigthttime: You are sleeping through the night. However, sometimes, you still wake up in the middle of the night and scream until we come help you. You wake up anywhere between 5:15-6:45am. We don’t like it when you wake up before 6!!! But, this week, you’ve been up every hour almost because you are having a hard time breathing. Poor baby girl!
Milestones | Movement: You are walking! You started walking about a week before you turned 10 months old! Grandma and Grandpa were able to see you walk when they were here! You are very good at turning as you walk, too! You follow after Rhys all over the house. You can also stand up without any help.
Communication: You still haven’t caught onto signing “more”. But, we’ll keep trying with signs. You can say “mam”/”oma”, “mmh”, and “hi”. You know how to wave and love to wave at anyone you see, even on FaceTime! You absolutely love your family and love to cuddle all three of us. If Rhys yells at your out of frustration, you smile and yell back at him, thinking it’s a game. When you see Rhys getting attention, you have to get right up on my lap and get attention too. You love to laugh and smile.
Playing: You still love the car play are and the toy kitchen we have. You’ve also started to really like your soft blocks and are learning to stack. We’ve also got you practicing putting rings on the ring stacking toy. Dolls are quickly becoming a love for you. You’ve also started to get the hang of peek-a-boo.
Personality | Playful, happy, smiley, curious trouble-maker, cuddler, sweet, affectionate, sensitive. These describe you. You are our little princess. Sometimes you can be a passive observer, whereas at this age, Rhys was either always on the move or a curious observer, trying to figure things out.
