My Writing Process

Don’t forget about the giveaway for an In-post ad for all of October!!

I recently gained some new, encouraging friends through the Peony Project. One of them, Britt, from My Little Sunshines, tagged me to share my writing process! I’m kind of excited to talk about it! And look, I practiced doing a staged, pin-able image!

1) What am I working on?
I’m working on finishing the last touches to my revamp of the blog. Then, I will work on a few new series I want to begin. Eventually, I’ll get to rebranding my pinterest…but that is my last priority. Blogging is now slow work for me, being a part-time teacher and a full-time new mom.

2) How does my work differ from others of its type/genre?
First of all, I don’t really consider myself any type of blogger with a specific niche–I feel that’s limiting. I know plenty bloggers who have a niche and they never run out of things to say, but I would, and I’d always want to talk about other things. So, I’m a little bit of everything: I talk about marriage, motherhood, being a teacher, recipes, what we do over the weekends, etc.

3) Why do I write what I write about?
I write what I feel like writing. Sometimes it’s passion/anxiety driven, sometimes I’m just super excited about something. I also write for my family, so I write a lot about our adventures and Rhys to keep them in the loop.

4) How does your writing process work?
Well, a lot of times, I come up with what I want to write about the night before it’s posted! Sometimes, though, I write down ideas, write down passages I want to have in it. Some posts are scheduled, some posts are rushed. It really depends on how busy I am, how inspired I am, or if I’m influenced by other bloggers’ posts. Most posts now are written with Rhys on my lap, sleeping, or next to Rhys on my bed while he naps! I love it! I’ll write a sentence or two, then stare at how adorable he is!

Now to tag three other people:

Elizabeth from Elizabeth Loves!
Danica from Danikan Skywalker!
Rachel from Random Writings of Rachel!

  • I agree with you about the niche. If I had a niche, I would run out of things to say pretty quickly, I think. I like being a lifestyle blogger and writing about whatever I want.

    LOVING your new look!
Though you may not thing you have a niche, I think you're making the transition to working mommy blogger. 🙂

  • I have the same notebook — I use it as my church/scripture journal! 🙂

  • And I think that's the funniest thing about being a "lifestyle" blogger–it's a niche, but not a niche.

  • Thanks! And, I've sort of thought that a little bit that I am becoming a mommy blogger!

  • Love these notebooks! So cute!

  • Thanks so much for the nomination, Tayler–I can't wait to do this!! I definitely don't feel I have a nice other than lifestyle–but I think that's the best kind!

  • It's definitely the broadest category
