Weather is getting warmer, and with that, so is the humidity. Sigh. Seriously. If the temperatures here could stay in the 80s with no humidity, it would be perfect! This past month had a lot going on, and we have a lot planned for this month. So here is what is currently going on…
What a busy weekend!
On Saturday, we went to our second Comicon in Salt Lake City! Last year, we went two days and cosplayed one of those days. This year, knowing that we would have a baby who would need to be fed, we didn’t dress up,but we still wore geeky outfits.
However, we made sure Rhys dressed up for his first Con!
We only went on Saturday this year because we had Rhys with us. But, we made sure to go first thing Saturday morning. We packed up the diaper bag (and somehow forgot an extra onesie!) and stuffed the stroller’s hidden areas with food! Then, we got on the TRAX and headed up to Salt Lake. As more Con-goers got on, they commented on how cute Rhys was. One guy even took a picture! Suddenly, a Catwoman and Batman walk through the door! The Batman stayed in character and called Rhys, Dick Grayson!
When we got to the Salt Palace in Salt Lake, we were pretty close to the front! We met up with my brother, Bobby, who was going for the first time. When we got in, we walked around, enjoying all the sights and sounds and costumes. We only went to one panel–Anime Voice Acting with Justin’s favorite voice actor: Vic Mignogna (FullMetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club, Princess Nine, Bleach, Tsubasa Chronicles). Justin and Bobby were ecstatic.
However, Rhys wasn’t having a very good day. He was well-behaved, but his stomach wasn’t agreeing with him and he spat up everything he ate. He was soaked. His onesie was soaked, his arms were soaked, his hair was soaked, both burp cloths were soaked. He did this for two feedings. So, we left earlier than anticipated.
But, it was still ok, because we got Subway and soda and Bobby sleptover and watched BYU’s football game with us.
Sunday was a special day. Rhys got blessed (kind of like a christening). My whole side of the family, and many of Justin’s side came to the blessing. It was so nice to see all the priesthood holders go up and stand with Justin as he blessed Rhys. There were 3 main topics Justin mentioned in Rhys and I will always remember them. I’m not going to put them here, because they are to special, but I did write them down so I can share them with Rhys later in his life.
Rhys was blessed in the same outfit my only brother was blessed in. I think it was really sweet to do it that way.
After he was blessed, everyone came back to our house for lunch. I really, really regret not having my camera out, but it was my first time hosting a big event and I was busy visiting with everyone. It was really nice to have both sides of the family visit with us and each other. They were all here to support and celebrate Rhys!
When everyone left, Madison stayed later to talk and visit with us. She (and my other siblings) had bought a huge teddy bear for Rhys. Now, my sister has had one of her own for a few years and our family loves to play with it, posing it, scaring others, etc. So, it’s almost like an inside joke when my siblings presented us with a bear all for Rhys. We decided to put him on the bear to take pictures. But, now that Rhys is a roller, he tried to roll off the bear, which was hilarious!
It was a good ending to a great weekend.
