May Blogger Men Tell All & Guys Behind the Blog

We’re combining both guy linkups again, so enjoy getting to know my awesome, amazing husband more!

Would you rather…

1. Watch Star Wars or Star Trek?
Star Wars.  I grew up going to the theater with my Dad watching the re-releases of Star Wars in the 90’s and it was some of the best memories of my childhood.  Star Trek only got interesting for me with the recent releases.

2. Take a summer vacation in the mountains or the beach?
Difficult question.  I love the beach and I love the mountains, but both have things I really dislike.  I probably like the beach more, but after 1 day I’m done, whereas I could be in the mountains for weeks.

3. Use Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook.  I have a twitter, but I haven’t touched in in literally months.  I liked the concept of it, but not the execution.  Plus, I’ve gone through so many types of social media over the years, I’ve kind of settled on Facebook and maybe LinkedIn and called it quits.  I did a blog, a Xanga, Myspace, toyed with Google+.  There’s too much.  Facebook is fine, and when I’m looking for a job, LinkedIn.  That’s good for me.

4. Go camping or stay in a nice hotel?
Depends.  I love camping, but a nice hotel has a lot of perks.  It all depends on what I was doing that day or the next.

5. Watch sports or play sports?
Baseball – Play
Football – Watch and Play
Basketball – Watch and Play
Volleyball – Play
Hockey – Watch
Olympic Events – Watch
Golf – Play
Rugby – Watch
Soccer – Neither

1 // What is your favorite family tradition?
Large breakfasts.  My dad would make pancakes until he was tired.  He expects all of them to be eaten.  There were seldom leftovers.

2 // Who’s your male celebrity crush?

Probably Nathan Fillion.

3 // What song best sums you up?
So, this is actually really hard.  I’ve spent a few days trying to find a good one, but most of the music I listen to is rather hard rock-ish stuff whose lyrics get quite…harsh.  I realize nothing is going to be a perfect fit, but this is the best I could find.

4 // What three things do you think of the most each day?
My family.  They are constantly on my mind.
Food.  I get hungry rather easy.  It’s hard not to think about food.
Honestly, that’s about it.  2 things constantly on my mind.  There isn’t a consistent 3rd.

5 // What is your most embarrassing memory?

Well, I’ll never tell that, but I will share “the most embarrassing thing I’m willing to admit on the internet”.
I was 21 years old before I realized the phrase was “Nip it in the bud” and not “Nip it in the butt”….Well, thats obviously not very embarrassing.  So you should…

And that’s about right.
Honestly though, I could write novels on embarrassing things I’ve done, however, I’m not very inclined to share them.  I make a big enough fool of myself on the internet already.

How did you come up with the name to your blog?
My blog name is, well, my name. Creativity is not my forte. At least not with words. I wanted to write about the things that affect my own life, so why beat around the bush. I’m writing about me, why not call it that? That is, after all one of my personality traits. I am very straight to the point.
What is your blog’s mission or goal?
A couple of years ago, a friend of mine moved to Russia and started a blog. Eventually she just stopped writing. When I asked her why, she told me it was because she had settled into her transition. Like for her, blogging is helping me transition- primarily from college to the real world. There are so many things that change in that process: my address, my job, my surrounding, my bank accounts, my budget. This is my way of documenting and sharing it.
Besides blogging, what are some other hobbies of yours?
I spent my first three years of college playing on the rugby team. I’m also super active in my sorority. I do a lot of crafting, and I’m constantly working to learn.
What is the best thing about blogging for you?
It’s really cathartic for me. I have so much going on lately. This semester has been so crazy. This summer will be busy, with lots going on and a bit of being here and a bit of being there. I certainly won’t be able to develop a routine because of it. Blogging, though, has given me a bit of consistency in the chaos of it all.
What are 3 of your favorite posts you’ve written?

Tayler is a work at home mom. She does free lance articles and dabbles in graphic design and virtual assisting for bloggers. She spent 3 years as a history and English teacher. Her passions are her husband, two children, history, reading, nature, and her Savior, Jesus Christ.

Blogger Men Tell All & Guys Behind the Blog // April

Because of scheduling, Justin gets double duty today and will be doing both of his linkups today! Lucky you! Yaaaay!

1) Has Starbucks ever spelled your name wrong on a cup? If yes, what’s the craziest way that someone has spelled it?
Well, I rarely ever go to Starbucks, but I have had some very interesting variations on my last name.  Morel, Morale, Merrill, Monrel, Mower, Maxwell….The list goes on.

2) Who would play your wife/fiance/girlfriend in a movie or TV show about your lives?
Like, who would best represent my wife, or who would I want to be my wife?  Ideally, I would love Mandy Moore to play my wife.

But if I went on looks, I think either Amy Adams or Isla Fisher.

And if Tayler was being cast in her British/Welsh ancestry, complete with accent, I’d go with Lucy Griffiths.

3) What is your proudest accomplishment?
I have 3.  I beat a Polynesian at an eating contest, I beat an Asian at Dance Dance Revolution, and I beat my English Teacher wife at Scrabble.
In all seriousness, Rhys.  Rhys is my proudest accomplishment.

I mean, come one…look at that face

4) What is your favorite holiday and why?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving.  Food, family, and football.  You literally are given 1 entire day to eat and 1 day afterwards to sit and veg out.

5) What is your favorite breed of dog?  If you don’t have a favorite breed, describe the characteristics of your ideal dog (or cat)!
Pugs are best dogs.  Pugs, or really big dogs.  Nothing in between.  If its a small dog, it must be a pug.

Anything bigger than a pug, it must be big enough for a toddler to ride like a horse.  Or even ride like a bear.

1. What is the last song you listened to?

2. What would you sing at a karaoke night?
Just about anything.  I have been told I do a great rendition of Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down.  Be noted, I am a hideous singer.  Not in the “Oh, I’m sure you sound good even though you think you’re a bad singer” kind of way.  I’m like, the borderline tone-deaf kind of way.

3. Would you describe yourself as an introvert or an extrovert?

I would describe myself as an extrovert who enjoys his alone time.

4. What is one thing you will never do again?

Drink a half cup of apple cider vinegar.  Straight.
I was reading online about how good ACV is for you, and I’ve read all these different recipes and drink detoxes you can do with it, and so I thought I would try it out.  Yeah, totally didn’t read the ingredients thoroughly.  Its like, 1 tablespoon of ACV to 1 cup of water.  Don’t know how I got 1/2 cup of undiluted ACV from that, but I did.  I will never do it again.

5. How do you think [your blogger] has benefited from blogging?

Well, she has won a lot of really neat free stuffs, but she has also made a lot of good friends that have been there for her during rough times, and that is worth more than anything she could fiscally make off of this.

Blog // Twitter // Facebook // Instagram // Pinterest // Etsy

How did you come up with the name to your blog?
It actually comes from my Facebook page I started years ago
when I decided that I wanted to make quality hand crafted items and sell them.  My first name, Aliza, is tricky to say, so I
used my nickname from college for my page.  When I was working full time, I took a break
from crafting and creating.  Recently I
have started working on projects again.  I found that I really liked sharing my projects,
recipes, and reviews with others.  That’s
how my blog came about!
What is your blog’s mission or goal?
I want to share my creative ideas for crafts and recipes,
and let people know about interesting places to visit or new products to try.
Besides blogging, what are some other hobbies of yours?
I love to read, work in my garden, spend time with my
kiddos, travel, work on recording my family history, and watching tv – right
now I’m watching the Doctor Who series again.
What is the best thing about blogging for you?
I love to be creative and work on projects.  Blogging has given me a way to share those
pojects with other people so they can create them too.  I like being able to share art exhibits that
are interesting and pictures of the beautiful earth around us.  I know how much I love to visit other blogs
and get ideas and I hope that other people will be helped by visiting my blog
too.

Blogger Men Tell All // March

Ready for more sarcastic Justin? I definitely am! I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I do!

1) Do you like to cook? If yes, what’s your favorite thing to make?
Yes, very much so. And by cooking, I mean “grab things in the fridge and throw them into a pan with some BBQ/Soy sauce and see what happens”.

In reality though, I’m pretty decent. I can’t bake though. Requires too much precision and I never measure. Most of my baking adventures normally end up burnt on the outside, doughy on the inside, and either imploded or growing extensively out of its intended shape…

IT. IS. ALIVE.

I did successfully make cream puffs once. They were delicious. I ate them in roughly 1/4 the time it took to make them. Not sure if it was worth it.

2) What is the last movie you saw in a theater?
I haven’t been to a movie theater in around a year. I can’t remember, and Tayler can’t remember. Andif Tayler can’t remember, then all is lost. (Tayler: It’s because we are new parents.1..we haven’t had the opportunity since before July 2014! But we have been doing a lot of Red Boxes!)

3) Can you name five makeup brands?
Maybeline, Sephora, Revlon, Avon, Mary Kay.

Combination of stupid commercial jingles and the amount of Project Runway Tayler watches.

No Judging.

4) What are your biggest pet peeves?
Oh boy, here we go…

-Not finishing food/beverages in a decent amount of time. I’m sorry, but if you have a half-finished glass of lemonade, and you set it down, and its not drunken in 1 hour, I’m drinking it. You had your chance. Clearly my desire for lemonade outweighs my fear of germs and your ability to finish a beverage.
-People who order their steaks Well Done. If you want a steak well done, you order the chicken. In fact, throw Medium Well in that category too. I like my steaks Blue Rare. If I poke the steak, I want it to Moo. I want a veterinarian to still be able to bring it back to life. Take the steak, show it to the grill, let it cower in fear, and then serve it to me.

-People who order food at a restaurant that is atypical for said restaurant. Go to a pizza joint and order a salad? That’s a sin. If you wanted a salad, then go home and throw some ranch dressing on the leaves and grass outside your house so I can get my pizza faster. I’m also gonna drink your lemonade that you left on the table.
– When playing Fire Emblem, getting hit by an enemy multiple time in a row when their hit percentage is less than 30%. Yes, I’m aware there’s technically a chance that it happens, but its still annoying.
– People who invite me to play candy crush. If I have time for candy crush, then I have time for Fire Emblem. Or Zelda. Or drinking lemonade.

We went the entire month of March without eating anything with added sugar, give or take a day. I had a pie shake on Pi Day. Its a family holiday so it didn’t count. I just had a lemonade from Chik-Fil-A today for the first time in what feels like forever. Kind of on a lemonade kick. No shame.

5) What are your biggest goals in life right now?
-Beat my English Teaching wife at Boggle.
-Reach my goal weight for the year. New Years Resolution is still going strong.
– Make some serious goals for my life.

Blogger Men Tell All February

It’s time again for Justin to take over! I love that we are doing two boys’ questionnaires each month now! So, here is the first one, and then the Guys Behind the Blog will come up on Friday!

What is your favorite winter hobby?
Drinking apple cider in front of a fire while playing video games. I hate the cold.

Did you do anything special for your blogger on February 14th the week of February 14th?
Yes, yes I did. We started off on her birthday by taking her to Tucanos. I then surprised her with some of her favorite snacks that she used to get all the time when she was in Wales. And then, on Valentine’s Day itself, I got her an entire bag full of her favorite British chocolates and made her a special dinner that wasn’t as nearly as special as I intended it to be. But, it’s the thought that counts, right?

What’s your favorite kind of candy?
Well, my favorite candy bar is Snickers. But as far as favorite candy goes, I would probably have to go with gummy’s. Gushers, fruit snacks, Starbursts, life savers, Pretty much if it’s fun colored, chewy and kinda taste like fruit, then I want it in my belly.

Which Rom-Com would you choose to watch while you snuggle up with your Valentine?
I’m under the assumption Rom Com means Romantic Comedy. In considering I absolutely hate romantic comedies, I’m gonna have to go with Star Wars, the prequels. I call those romantic comedies because the romantic parts of them are very comical. That counts, right?

But seriously, probably Princess Bride. I ‘ll fight anyone who disagrees saying it’s not a romantic comedy.

Who, in your opinion, is the best US president ever?
Oh boy. Here it comes. The best US president ever …. I have a slight issue with this question in that during my cognitive memory, I remember there being 3 presidents: Clinton, Bush, and Obama. And the only one whose decisions have directly affected me has been Obama. I feel it unfair to judge who is the best president when, in retrospect, I really only have living experience with one’s term. I think Obama is a nice man, and I legitimately believe that he thinks he’s doing what’s best. However, I don’t think he’s the best for the job right now. Based on my research (and obviously, hindsight is always 20/20) the best president in my opinion would probably be Ronald Reagan or Mr. Washington, himself. I say Mr. Washington, because any man willing to try and lead a fledgling country through the hardest times it has ever faced, immediately following a war that could have killed everyone, clearly is either insane or an honest man desperately trying to help anyway he can. I feel all presidents have an idea of how the country should be run. And, I honestly believe that they desire a better tomorrow for this nation. But, due to the political system established in this country currently, there are too many external influences that conflict and result with nothing getting done in a timely manner. So God bless anyone who tries to lead this country. God bless Mr. Obama, and God bless America.

And now to step away from my completely serious post, ‘MURICA!!!!

Blogger Men Tell All: (All about the girl!)

(Don’t forget about the big Giveaway!)

It’s time for another round of Justin answering questions!

1. What is your favorite memory with your blogger?
It was Christmas Break a few years ago. She hadn’t been feeling very well, and she was neck-deep in grading papers.

I told her to take a break.

So she sat on the ground, Pepsi in one hand, gamecube controller in the other, heavy blanket draped over her, with chocolate bars to her side. She sat and played one of her favorite games, Mystic Heroes. All night.

Just watching her relax and seeing her so happy really made my day.

2. What is her best quality?
Her ability to sucker me into doing things I don’t want to do.

And having those things become things that I quite enjoy.

3. What is something the two of you enjoy doing together?
Playing video games is a huge one. We love playing with our son. But mostly, just being in each others’ presence is a joy. We used to sit on each end of the couch, face each other, and dabble on our computers. We would then facebook messages to each other. It was dorky and very joyous.

4. What is your favorite post of hers that she has ever written?
Her food ones. She’s a great cook.

and yes..all of them.

5. How much time do you think your blogger puts into blogging each week? (And what are you normally up to when she’s blogging?)

I would say about 1-2 hours a day during the week, and about 2-3 hours a day on weekends. On average. There will be days where she doesn’t touch blogging, and then there are days when she does it literally all day.
